Dr. Sujata Sawhney is a trained paediatric rheumatologist. She is based at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, and also has her own clinic in NOIDA. She attends the Joint disease clinic with Prof A. N. Malaviya once a week on a Friday at the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre in Vasant Kunj.
Dr Sujata Sawhney is a Consultant Paediatric Rheumatologist at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. Her aim is to provide world-class multidisciplinary team care for children afflicted with rheumatological conditions and secondly to conduct training courses to increase awareness about children with these problems.
She is a graduate of AFMC Pune, and has completed her MBBS in 1985 with honours in Pathology and Medicine. She served the Indian Navy for five years and then completed M.D. in Paediatrics in 1993.
After a two-year senior residency programme at the Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital In New Delhi, she went to the U.K. to pursue higher studies. There she completed MRCP (UK) and trained in Paediatric Rheumatology at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. On completion of her training programme, she was awarded the CCST (Completion Certificate of specialist training) from the U.K. Medical Royal Colleges.
She is one of the handful of Physicians in India who is a career paediatric rheumatologist.
Dr. Sawhney was trained in paediatric rheumatology for two years at the Great Ormond Street hospital for Sick children in London. This is a premier children’s hospital in UK and has a large unit that deals with paediatric rheumatologic conditions.
